scsi tape drive dazed and confused

Hi everyone!

I'm having a problem with a Dell PowerEdge 4600. It's got an Adaptec 7900 SCSI controller for the DAT Drive. Whenever I link the DAT drive using "ln –s /dev/st0 /dev/tape" and "ln –s /dev/nst0 /dev/nrtape" the server will hang at "Flushing hda" on shutdown and will get the "Dazed and Confused" message on boot. If I unlink the DAT Drive the problem goes away. Any ideas on how to make this stop?

Thanks!
