[SOLVED] screen resolution problem

This morning, i got a new monitor (17" LCD LG1740P - native resolution 1280x1024 @ 75Hz).
I can't manage to set it at a higher resolution than 1024x768.

I set the right values (HorizSync, VertRefresh) in xorg.conf (same as my old screen, btw).
In [Section "Screen"], i tried Virtual 1280 1024, then Modes "1280x1024".
I also tried HardDrake but whatever i do, i'm stuck with 1024x768.

1280x1024 works in Win98. It's a rather old comp with an old graphic card (TNT2), but i had no problem with my old monitor (17" LCD LG1720, almost same specs).
Now i'm lost. Thanks for your help.
