screen hangs !
My desktop is misbehaving lately.
Yesterday when I turned on the machine and boot up a Linux OS, I was able to work for barely 5 mins and out of a sudden the screen froze. No key can wake the computer up. I turned off the machine using the power button. On turning on the machine the second time, the same thing happens. The screen froze after a little while. I do not think it has to do with OS, since when I tried to boot to Windows 7, I cannot even get to the login screen where the computer hangs at the progress indicator with a turning ring. I turned off and tried to turn it on again, this time I cannot even see the BIOS menu. Another time I tried to turned it on, I believe the fan is turning really noisily but nothing else happened. This morning, I pressed the power botton and I was able to boot up one Linux OS. I let googleearth run a while and sure enough the screen froze again a few minutes later. After that I cannot power up the machine again. Question: What is wrong with the machine ? The Motherboard or the RAM or anything else ? Many thanks if you can share your opinions. |
Hi,
sounds like the mobo or the power supply. Does the power supply turn on when you try (and fail) to boot the machine? Evo2. |
Ok. I will check the power connection carefully. I might be due to a loose connection.
Will report back. |
