Scanner/Printer Combo Unit - Scanner Works - Printer Does Not
Hello forum,
I own the HP OfficeJet G55 scanner/printer combination unit and the printer used to work both in Windows XP as well as different flavors of Linux. But now it only works in Windows XP and will not work under Mandriva, Debian, or StartCom ML5 (Fedora Core 5) (multiboot configuration). The following infomation was obtained while in StartCom (Fedora Core 5). The scanner portion of the unit works fine under Linux (as well as Windows). I have tried changing the print system from CUPS to Generic UNIX LPD but it didn't help. In the "Printers" application (Control Center), it says all users are allowed to use the printer. It also says that each job has been queued and that the printer state is stopped but accepting jobs. And whenever I try to print a test page, the message says it was successfully sent to the printer. I am using the Foomatic/hpijs driver. Typing dmesg in a terminal window seems to show it is loaded up: Code:
drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 5 if 0 alt 0 proto 3 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x0011 hplod (pid 2009) is running hpssd (pid 2014) is running I have also tried turning the printer off and back on again with the power switch. Is there any hope for getting the printer to work under Linux? Thank you, Roy |
It is listed as a supported and mostly functioning printer.
