What's in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf. And please, "Post Reply" button is at bottom left. Unnecessary quoting is not making your thread better.

The 'hp-doctor' utility does not always correctly recognise the required supporting libraries in all distros, but it can sometimes give an idea about what is missing, along with any configuration issues. The printer is correctly defined , but I do see evidence of some permissions issues here. For example
Code:
warning: Failed to read /etc/cups/ppd/HP-LaserJet-Pro-MFP-M127fn.ppd ppd file
You may need to add the user to the 'lp' group. Check with
If necessary do
Code:
sudo adduser $USER lp
*It will take effect when you next log out and back in again.
As Emerson advised, please check /etc/sane.d/dll.conf contains an uncommented 'hpaio' entry.
Code:
grep -i "hpaio" /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
*You may need to run this command with sudo depending on the distro.
If it's missing for some reason, you can add it manually (with sudo privileges of course).

I'm using Ubuntu. I'm sure I did things wrong here. I guess you have to baby me and tell me exactly what to type. Sorry
Code:
michael@michael-HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-SFF:~$ groups
michael adm cdrom sudo dip plugdev lpadmin lxd sambashare
michael@michael-HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-SFF:~$ sudo adduser $USER lp
[sudo] password for michael:
The user `michael' is already a member of `lp'.
michael@michael-HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-SFF:~$ sudo adduser $michael
adduser: Only one or two names allowed.
michael@michael-HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-SFF:~$ sudo adduser $michael lp
adduser: The user `lp' already exists.
michael@michael-HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-SFF:~$ grep -i "hpaio" /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
michael@michael-HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-SFF:~$
michael@michael-HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-SFF:~$ sudo apt-get grep -i "hpaio" /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
E: Command line option 'i' [from -i] is not understood in combination with the other options.

It is up to you, the world is at your fingertips.
Ctrl+D is supposed to exit shell, but some terminals may have this key combination hijacked and used for something else. Just type exit and hit Enter if Ctrl+D does not work.

Update.
"Document Scanner" app will scan.
"Skanlite" app won't scan.

Start your application in a terminal window, look at output, often there are good clues what's wrong.
Sometimes it helps to log off and back in for new settings to take effect.

Have you tried the sanity tests to make sure the backend works?

It scanned with that.
But it did give this result:
michael@michael-HP-EliteDesk-800-G1-SFF:~$ scanimage -T
Output format is not set, using pnm as a default.
