Hello All,

I have an HP PhotoSmart 2575 AIO printer which I want to utilize as many of its functions as possible under linux. I am running Mandriva 2005 LE and the HPLIP stuff didn't quite work out for me. I played around with CUPS and got the printer to work using the HP PhotoSmart 2600 driver that was found pre-installed on the machine. The printing portion works and I am happy. However, it would be great if I can get the scanner to work too. I have some decent technical know how and I have been searching around for some possible answers or ideas to get started on getting it to work. Does anyone have any knowledge about how to go about getting the integrated scanner to work as well. I think using "saned" or "sane" is an option but I am not quite sure how to go about it all.

For reference, the OS is Mandriva 2005 LE
The printer gets accessed at port 9100 by CUPS.

Only way I know to get it setup is to install the hplip drivers. It includes all the needed tools for printing, scanning, faxing, cardreader if present, and much more. Goto http://www.linuxprinting.org/cups-doc.html and enter printer model and follow any instructions provided.

I have a photosmart 3310 and install went smooth on centos, redhat el, suse, and unbuntu/kunbuntu from what I have tried.
