SB16 Pro Sound not working in RH8

I have been running RH8 for some time now and have never been able to get sound to work (amongst a few other things but one at a time eh?).

I have a Creative Soundblaster 16 Pro ISAPnP card aboard that is recognised during the boot process and according to lsmod has drivers installed (output below, along with other outputs).

The card works if I insert a CD, but if I try to play a .wav file or anything else from the machine all I get is a few clicks. If I run sndconfig as root I can get the test sound but then the program hangs. If I run redhat-config-sound it reports that it cannot find a sound card!

This card works great in another PC (also running RH8) that I have been installing (which wouldn't recognise an Ensoniq card - subject of another thread.) The machine is a Pentium II.

I've read through various threads and can't see anything that has helped so far. Anybody got any more suggestions please?

Kind Regards
Ashley

PS I have posted this problem in the Redhat forum early last month but didn't get very far with it, so apologies for the repeat if it offends anyone.
