Unhappy SATA on SUSE 9.0


What can i do to make SATA work on SUSE LINUX 9.0?

As discussed all over these forums.
LINUX+SATA=NO

Sata was introduced into the 2.6 kernels and as backpatching into the 2.4 series. You cant install a linux distro without either installing it to another drive, patching/updating the kernel and copying it over. Or, picking a distro and method to compile a custom boot iso with a sata compatible kernel.

Sorry but i am a newbie.
where can I find 2.6 kernel if it is avariable?

How do i update the kernel?

What will change for SATA then?
