Unhappy SATA exception, disk errors, system hangs

I have problems with SATA disks. I was getting lots of error messages when booting and had problems with corrupted files. Fsck found and corrected lots of disk errors. While this was already happening we suffered a power failure which caused more disk problems. No matter how many times I ran fsck there were more problems. So I replaced the disk where the errors seemed to be occurring. Unfortunately, after a couple hours there were more problems. There have not yet been any more corrupted files and fsck finds all partitions clean, but there are many error messages while booting, some disk reads are very slow, and sometimes during disk reads the system hangs for a minute or so.

I have two SATA disks (and one IDE which does not seem to be affected).
I am running Kubuntu 2.6.22-14-generic on an AMD-64. The SATA controller is on my motherboard, which is a K8T Neo.

Here is a bit from dmesg:

Thanks so much for this advice, which seems to have solved the problem.
I had tried adding a couple parameters to the kernel-loading line in my grub menu, "pci=nomsi" "acpi=force irqpoll" and these did enough good that the computer could be used, but there were still error messages in dmesg, some delays, and the shutdown sequence stopped before the computer actually shutdown.
After changing the cable, the computer booted without error messages and dmesg appears to be clean.
I had not done anything to molest that cable for many moons. It is a little disturbing to think that cables can go south without help.
