SAS Disk controller and recent BIOS driver problem

I have a problem getting LSI 9361-8i SAS Disk Controllers to work on a new motherboard running CENTOS 7. The motherboard is an ASRock B550 Taichi.
An older motherboard, also from ASRock works flawlessly. Since Centos already has the driver, the SAS MFI BIOS loads prior to booting.
With the newer card, the BIOS displays the disk controller with a comprehensive interface, but options to do anything with it are disabled. Activating to Legacy mode controls (in the BIOS) results in the driver appearing to load at boot, but it’s not really loaded, resulting in a kernel panic.
It appears to me that I have run afoul of higher security BIOS on the new board. I am hoping to get this working with a newer Linux distribution but I’m not sure where to look.
Any advice or information is welcome.

Sounds like you may have TPM or Secure Boot or Trusted Boot enabled. Disable that if you need to boot using the RAID controller BIOS in legacy mode.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried switching (BIOD) to legacy mode with no luck. I am going to give AlmaLinux a try. It can boot in secure mode and should have the driver, which would be signed. I'd would have had that complete by now, but the raid controller on my development machine just died.

the boot code in flash on the controller is completely separate from the OS driver in the kernel.

AlmaLinux was solution. The machine boots with a functioning driver and works great.
