Try another distribution such as Mandrake or Fedora. You can try to install the latest stable ALSA drivers, libs, and utilities from ALSA site. Try disabling artsd through KDE.

I have no issues like this with the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz when using old and the latest ALSA versions. You can try create a bug report at SUSE site and explain the issue.
