Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Sandisk Sansa E140 SD card not seen

I got a Sandisk Sansa E140 for Christmas and am just starting to use Linspire. When I plug in my Sansa it mounts and finds what is on the internal memory but does not see the 1G SD card that is plugged into the expansion slot. Anyone have any ideas as why this might be true.
Thanks Bill
