Samsung ML-1740 Not Printing Legal-Size Properly
I have a Samsung ML-1740 monochrome laser printer. I am using Mandriva LE2005 w/ a 2.6.11-6mdk kernel. I can get the printer to print on letter size paper using either the driver from the cd that came w/the printer or by using a distro supplied driver for the ML-1710.
The problems occur when I try to print on legal-size paper. It does not print the whole page and cuts off the top 3" of the doc. I recently upgraded to LE2005 from Mandrake 9.2 which used the 2.4.? kernel. The printer worked great on 9.2 for letter and legal size printing. I also have an HP OfficeJet 6210 which works fine under LE2005. It prints letter and legal with no problems.
Is this an issue with the 2.6 kernel? Is it a problem with GTK (Samsung seems to rely on an older version)?
Under 9.2 I would hit the print button in a program and get print dialogue and then the frontend for Samsung would come up. I could config the printer to use legal paper and everything worked fine. Using LE2005 when I hit the print button in a program the Samsung frontend does not come up (when I had the supplied driver installed).
Any good ideas on what I can do to get the ability to print on legal size paper correctly?
Thanks,
EW
