Saitek P220, Comments?

Hi,

I'm looking for a cheap joystick or gamepad to play a few oldies but goodies under FCE Ultra and Vice, and to learn a little about programming joysticks in Linux. The cheapest thing I've found so far is the Saitek P220. Can anybody recommend this? Googling turned up mixed results.

Also, does joy2key work with USB joysticks, or just with gameport devices? Does it work with gamepads? I'm a little out of my element here, so any input is welcome. Even if you don't have any comments on this particular gamepad but can recommend another cheap one, that would be great, too. Thanks in advance.

I should mention that I'm primarily going to use this on Ubuntu 5.10.

OK, so I lost patience and spent the $10 on the Saitek P220 hoping it would work. For anyone else who might like to know in the present or future, I'm happy to say it worked flawlessly. Not a single glitch to report. Vice and FCEU both worked with minimal effort:

$ fceu -inputcfg gamepad1

is all you need.
