Sagem Modem won't install.

I've installed Mandriva 2006 as a dual boot to Win XP Pro. I get my ADSL 'net connection via a Sagem F@ast 800 USB modem, which came with Windows software. Everything else - printer, scanner, pen drives etc - was recognised fine by Linux - much better than XP. But it doesn't recognise the modem. I've downloaded some drivers from Sagem, but I think these are for .rpm distros. Any ideas, please?

What was the file you downloaded? The Linux file I found here is in .tgz format, which is just a tarball. You can extract it with "tar xvf filename.tgz". Extracting the files from said tarball will create a folder named eagle-usb and then the source code for the driver can be found in the sub-directory named eagle-usb-src. There's a file called readme in there that gives installation instructions.

Edit: I didn't see any .RPM files anywhere, but Mandriva is an RPM distro isn't it?

I have been using the Sagem F@ST 800 until recently with Mandrake 10.1 and LE2005. Drivers came on the disks I'm sure so I would be surprised if Mandriva had dropped support for the Sagem in 2006.

Although it worked ok I got tired of messing with software firewalls and routers on my home network so now I have a linksys gateway which has its own ADSL modem built in.

Nylex is right but those drivers are mainly for older versions of Mandrake. I have Mandriva 2006 working fine with the Sagem@800 usb modem.
In fact there is a current update but it should not be necessary.
Mandriva 2006 has the drivers.
