sagem fast 800 on Suse 8.2

I have been using suSe 8.2 for a while now. I got broadband from Tiscali who sent me a usb modem Sagem fast 800. I spent several days on this including getting the suggested drivers by Eagle and still can't get it work.
If I used YAST to do the Install it recognises as

Already configured devices:
ADSL-USB Modem
Configured as ppp0 with provider

cat /proc/bus/usb/drivers gives

usbdevfs
hub
0- 15: usblp
acm
serial

But I get this if I try to connect

SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.00 on linux.
We are disconnected.
trying to connect to smpppd

We are lurking.

Has anyone get this to work apart from our French Bretherns?

Thanks in Advance

Where are you experts?

Anyway I have spent some more hours on the this using the Eagle 1.04 drivers that other have tried. It is looking promising, the drivers have installed ad the lights on the modem are on.

However, if I do linux:/etc/ppp # adsl-start or use tkpppoe I get
...............................TIMED OUT

I changed TIMED_OUT to Nerver and it still does not connect.

linux:~ # ifconfig -a

NTERFACE

>>> Enter the Ethernet interface connected to the ADSL modem
For Solaris, this is likely to be something like /dev/hme0.
For Linux, it will be ethn, where 'n' is a number.
(default ADIModem):

MODEM TYPE

We will try to detect if your modem is compliant with RFC 2516
or not. 3COM's 3CP4130 is *NOT* compliant, for instance.

Searching for a modem at interface ADIModem...

Not found, trying with 3COM's code...

Didn't find a modem at interface ADIModem, you can continue but
things might not work as you expect... :(
You might want to re-run this script and try a different interface.

Can anyone help

Thanks
