saa7134 + via82xxx sound

Hi...
I have philips tv-card (saa7134) and onboard via82xxxx chip sound.
Whatever I trie, thers no sound from tv-card.
mixer shows linein ,aux etc unmuted and 100%.
Is there maybe problem with saa7134 driver,s o that no sound comes out from tv-card?
Or is it problem with sound card [driver].

I have the same problem. Same hardware and no sound is available. But I think this is a soundcard problem beceause even if I use xine or mplayer there is no sound. I tried alsa and the kernel included sound driver (2.4.26).

Greetings
Jo

hi,

i'm presuming you've got the audio out from your tv card looped in to the line in on your soundcard..

you could try checking that sound is actually coming out of the tv card by using an external amplifier / speakers.

if the tv card appears at fault, check you're using the correct tuner. if in doubt, choose the philips reference card option (i think it's card number 4 in the saa7134 driver), which i've used with success with my (very) cheap saa7134-based card.

check all the mixer options in your tv application too.

hello,

the saa7134 driver accepts a number of card identifier options upon loading. the best way of doing this is to make an entry in your /etc/modules.conf file. below is a sample of my modules.conf file, relevant to the saa7134 driver for the philips reference card -

Code:
options saa7134 card=1
alias /dev/v4l saa7134
options bttv card=65
i would also recommend that you do a

Code:
modprobe saa7134
rather than using insmod, because modprobe will take care of dependant modules for you. for your interest, here is a list of the tv card-specific modules loaded on my system; yours should look the same -

Code:
tuner 10856 1 (autoclean)
saa7134 62868 0 (autoclean)
video-buf 11064 0 (autoclean) [saa7134]
i2c-core 15492 0 (autoclean) [tuner saa7134]
v4l2-common 2528 0 (autoclean) [saa7134]
v4l1-compat 11752 0 (autoclean) [saa7134]
videodev 6272 2 (autoclean) [saa7134]
i hope this helps. i have to add that i found the whole thing a bit bizarre and there was a lot of trial and error involved, but it all seems good on my system now...
