S3 ViRGE Card Troubles

I have an S3 ViRGE, 86C325 video card. On the card, and on a chip on the card, it also says MpeVga Pro3D. Has anyone had any experience with this card? If I plug it in and power-up, i get video through it, but the Linux boot process stops at: Discovering Hardware. The cursor keep blinking, though. I waited for 10+ minutes for Linux to discover this card, but no luck. surely, it doesn't take this long! I am running Debian Unstable, and kernel 2.6.5. Any comments or suggestions are welcome, of course.

I don't think that's the video card...

I've got that exact same card, I use it for testing stuff so its been in about... 20 machines or so, framebuffering works on it fine. There's probably something else in that box that's hanging the hardware probe.

Just a guess anyway.

I, of course, Did not put in anything else in else in, the card is the only factor that has changed, but thanks for looking. Anyone else?
