Running Linux on Dell desktops

I need to replace a couple of my home desktops which were running Linux Fedora (Core 4 and 6)
Those desktops are 4 to 5 years old and have IDE based harddrives.

I'm wondering : has anyone tested running Fedora on the newer Dell desktops ? Any issues with SATA or SAS controllers ?

Would I be able to run Fedora Core 6 on a Inspiron 530 without problems ?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Considering Dell is currently selling the Inspiron 530 with Ubuntu installed I really can see no reason Fedora wouldn't load onto it without too much hassle..

I have Debian running on an Optiplex 320 (after one minor workaround during install) and it runs just fine.
