rsync - Identical drives or not?

Hi

I was wondering if rsync require the hard drive to be identical in the same way RAID does?

Because i have some drives that is the same size, but isn't the same brand.

Nope, doesn't matter. Size does. You don't want your rsync to halt halfway through...

cool, what would happen if i took a 500GB hdd and used it as primary drive and a 640GB as secondary, would it just sync the first 500GB and ignore the rest?

rsync is for file-based copy, not for imaging. The underlying hardware is irrelevant in this case, as long as the target storage device is large enough to contain the files you copy to it.
