right click on touch pad won't always click

the right-click won't physically click most of the time. i think someone may have spilled some water on it. it's an hp pavillion dv2408. does anyone know where i would be able to buy a replacement from? either online, or from somewhere in toronto, ontario.
thanks!

Then it is probably broken.

So just replace it. (No, we will not search for you, you can do that for yourself), with a USB mouse: Just plug it in and it will work. This is linux :)

Welcome to LQ!

I think he knows that, he said as much.

I suspect he knew that was an option before he made his OP.

I recommend you read this: The leftclick button on my HP pavillion laptop no longer works. How to replace? Good Luck

He didn't say it was broken, if he thought so, why would he be posting here?

Plug in the external mouse and it is likely to work. No "Install the "drivers"" or anything, it "just works". This is linux.

Your link ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...8172357AAp4IRw) contributes nothing constructive.

So, how is your post supposed to be helpful, to anyone at all, the OP included?

I'm just guessing about what was in his mind but perhaps the OP thought that because this is the Hardware forum possibly someone here might know where he could obtain a replacement touchpad. This scenario seem plausible to me.

IMO that part of your post was cryptic but I get it now.

My link contained good advice from someone who is in a position to know the efficacy of attempting the repair that the OP is considering so let’s let the OP determine the merits of it.

I probably should have clarified. I actually was looking for the part. It's like $150 from Best Buy or HP so I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere else that had them for cheaper. Maybe somewhere online that I couldn't find through just Google. I have no problem actually replacing it myself. But it's now randomly working again. So I don't think I'll need to replace it anymore.
But thanks anyway guys!

If in future you decide you’ll need that part then I recommend you search for it by part number rather than name at one of the following price search engines:

Froogle.com
BizRate.com
ResellerRatings.com
MySimon.com
DealTime.com

Yikes..

For Dell you would replace the palmrest which includes the touchpad assembly. On average they run $25.00-40.00
What was HP trying to sell you, plastics for the entire laptop body ?

a refurbished touchpad assembly for the DV2400 series is around $45.00 but you didn't include the series or actual part number so I can only speculate that I am looking at the correct part.
