RHEL 4 Installation problem on Seagate 80 GB SATA HDD

Hi everybody,

I've facing one problem, Recently i purchased a PC with Intel 946GZ 64 bit series motherboard n 2.8 Duo Core processor, 512 MB DDR 2 RAM, 80 GB Seagate SATA HDD.

When I try to install RHEL4 on SATA HDD then it says "no devices found to install the OS" it means HDD not
detected, Whenever installation is going fine on IDE HDD.

So, Plz suggest me How can I install RHEL 4 on that configuration.

Thanks in Advance.

No it means that the SATA interface is not known. This happens often as the RHEL4 has very limited support for SATA interfaces. You have a couple of possible options, one is to install after setting the SATA interface to legacy mode in the BIOS. The other is to see if the system manufacturer has the drivers for RHEL4 and install by using the dd option when the installation menu screen is displayed.

You also have the option of installing RHEL5beta2 which has much better SATA support;
