Unhappy RH9 wont install eth0 on ABIT IS7 (865PE-ICH5 mobo)

I've just installed RedHat 9 on a system built from an ABIT IS7 motherboard. This mobo uses an Intel 865PE chipset with ICH5 south bridge. The south bridge supports a 10/100 onboard ethernet.

The problem is that now that everything is installed there is no device eth0. When I run "ifconfig -a" it shows a loopback device lo as the only entry.

Can anyone suggest what to do ? Did I miss something during the install process?

thanks
