RH Linux 9.0 and AD1985 6-channel audio codec
Hello,
Again I have another problem with AD1985 codec on ASUS P4P800 Deluxe motherboard and RH Linux 9.0. The kernel is 2.4.20.
I have installed the driver for Linux from ASUS website and the installation seems to be successful. But after I restart the machine according to the driver installation instruction, there is still the following error message displayed when I logged in:
"Sound server has encountered the following problem:
/dev/dsp cannot be found. The device does not exist.
The sound server will still be running but use the null device as
output device."
The sound system is still not working.
I checked my system and found that /dev/dsp exists and it is a symbolic link to /dev/dsp0. So it seems to be fine.
What should I do to troubleshoot it?
Thanks!
Best Regards,
Li Tan

I call ASUS Technical Support today.
It doesn't have AD1985 driver.
The driver you download on the Web is AD1980 driver.
It will remove the driver.

Thanks for your information. I think I should wait for AD1985 Linux driver publication.
