RH 8...soundcard blues

Running RH 8 on my Gateway Laptop...Nothing I do can even detect my soundcard. What I have done so far...

1. Ran RH sound card detection....says there is no sound card
2. Ran lspci...sound card not listed
3. Ran /proc...cat interrupts...card not listed
4. Ran pnpdump...no card listed

Hardware I have...

Soundcard is a Neomagic...My BIOS setting for it are irq-11 io-0220 dma-1 dma2-0

I'm pretty smart when it comes to computers, but this really has me stumped...if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it

KJ

Try installing ALSA, I believe that NeoMagic soundcards are supported by ALSA, I have included a link to a document I found useful when installing ALSA on my Laptop.

ALSA Installation

Good Luck
