Installed RH 8.0 (and all recent updates) on an IBM Thinkpad 390. Most everything works (almost out of the box ), but the sound card does not seem to be supported.

It is recognised when I do the 'soundcard detection' app:
Neomagic Corporation
[MagicMedia 256AV Audio]
nm256_audio
however, it does not 'play test sound'.

I've tried all the tricks that I've found so far, upping the volume, and a few more that I found on this board. No joy, and in fact I get a report:

"check you have sound card support complied in kernel"

Well......er....I assume so. I did the graphical install of RH 8.0 and selected all the obvious options.....

Any suggestions to get me on the right track?
