Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked and answered before - I've searched but haven't found anything!
I'm running Linux From Scratch as a busybox performing as, amongst other things, a router. I am using a Cable Modem which hangs off the USB port (I only have 1 ethernet card in my server at the moment!)
Ok, If I turn the modem on first, then start up the Linux Box. Everything is fine.
If, however, the cable modem get disconnected for some reason, or loses power or for any other reason needs to be re-started, then my Linux box loses it
Obviously, a re-boot solves the issue, but I suspect that I can issue a couple of commands to get it to re-load the drivers etc. My question is what are they?
Even better, is there a way that this can be automated so that the hot-plug functionality of USB causes the interface to be brought up?
I hope my question makes sense
Many thanks for any and all help.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Paul
