Resolution for 19 inch monitor shoud be ...?
 
I use 19 inch monitor and read in many place that resolution recomended is 1280X1024. Why is that?

There isn't any recommend screen resolutions. It depends on the user and the monitor's specs.

I have 19" and use 1280X1024 mostly. It's just my prefference, as my monitor can go a lot higher.

resolution depends more on the graphics card (and personal preference) than the monitor. Certain functions of the graphics card (e.g. direct draw) can be unavailable in higher resolutions. Can be relevant if you intend to do any video editing.
