repurpose old pc

what can i do with 1ghz/512ram amd athlon?
i have antix 15 installed, it runs pretty well
but the processing power just isnt there
youtube, fb, and heavy js sites lag

its big noisy and thirsty
any idea what to use it for?

will probably give it for free, but what can it actually run?

At this point, probably very little with it's current specs. Word processing should be fine, though, using a lighter program like AbiWord. Perhaps some 2D games like chess or checkers. It might help a little bit if the memory and processor were upgraded. Is this a laptop or a desktop system? What is the brand and model (and model number?)

it is a desktop, no brand, generic gray box
whats sad is i got more power and less powerdraw on my android, but i dont have linux on it :(

the computer is ok.
it's the internet of today that is getting heavier & heavier.
the lightest distro cannot change that.
antiX is already pretty good.
next, drop flash. really, most sites Just Work (tm) with html5 these days.
use a(n even) lighter (but modern, probably webkit based) browser - maybe qupzilla?

My Motorcycle Shop Streaming Internet Radio Player runs AntiX and internet radio stations hooked up to a old thrown out 200 watt per channel stereo receiver and some cheap speakers.

Computer was dumpster dived acquired.
It has been a shop stereo unit for years now.

I am not in my shop presently. It is closed for the night. But to give a example of what I am saying.

My input jack to the stereo from my headphone jack on desktop

My rca jacks plug into the phono input jack on one of these.

My wireless usb is a Dlink DWA 130

And the .pls files I play in xmms are <I set the default run action as xmms for .pls files in rox file manager>

That is one way I re-purpose old gear. It also hold manuals in .pdf format that I use to reference when working on motorcycles. I can get on the internet with it and play youtube through smtube also. I browse mostly using Dillo and Links2 with it.
