Replacing the optical disk drive in my DELL XPS M170

We'll the cd/dvd drive in my xps m170 has officially died, and I'm in need of replacing it, but before I replace it, I want to make sure I am buying the right drive. I'm not sure what interface the drive uses (IDE-or- EIDE) or what, so all I am needing is some help in figuring this out, does anyone know what it is?

as an economical alternative to having dell ship me a crappy dell drive.

You can contact Dell and provide the service tag to find out how your machine is populated. You will get a detailed list of devices.
