rename the desktop devices

It was not possible to rename the desktop devices: /hda1 /hda2 /sda1 /sda2 (I am root)

I chose to enter new devices for the same disks and gave them the desired names: XP, MEPIS, Apacer, Maxtor

It is easier to work with.

However I can't delete the old icons: /hda1 /hda2 /sda1 /sda2 (I am root)

Can it be done?

Using SimplyMEPIS 3.3 with KDE 3.3.2

Solved

Got a quick solution from mepislovers.org:

Go to Control Center/Desktop/Behavior/Desktop Icons and uncheck the ones you don't want.

It worked removing the default desktop icons.
