Removable Hard Drive not Detectable?
Good day, I have a Maxtor One Touch removable HDD that connects via a USB cable. But Fedora and Xubuntu nor XP can detect this drive. That is after I formatted it in XP.

I want to use it to install Fedora 19 or store movies.

Is there a distro that is good for hardware detection, in particular, or should I try G Parted?

I assume format was not really successful or you made some mistakes. Disk recognition should work!

I know somebody who had this external drive. It's usb interface is flakey. I tried to get it working under XP and had problems. That was with the Maxtor Touch One driver and utility installed. I ended up taking it apart and pulling the hard drive out. If you have a desktop, just take it apart and put it's 3.5 hard drive in your desktop. If you have a laptop, You'd be better off getting a generic usb adapter and a 2.5 inch hard drive to install in it. Those work quite well with Linux.
