Reiserfs system unrecoverable?

I have (had) 2 drives in my computer, one (hda) hosted / and /home, on separate partitions. On the other disk (hdc) I had a couple of Movies partitions. After rebooting the other day, I got a whole bunch of reiser errors telling me that hda1 and hdc2 where corrupted (Power surge?). I disconnected both drives after backing up my /home partition and installed ubuntu on a new drive, restoring my /home files. Now I reconnected my Movies hd and I did reiserfsck --build-sb and reiserfsck --build-fs, no go, the latter (after a long process) told me it was unrecoverable. Is there nothing more I can do to recover it? Is all lost? If so, then I'll just go on with life and do more regular backups. Otherwise, I'd like to try to restor the data, if possible.
Sorry if this was a bit incomprehensive. Post if more info is needed.

Have you tried the other software tools for Reiser file system? I once spent a lot of time using all of the Reiser file system tools to recover a faulty file system. I finally reformatted the partition with the XFS file system and restored from backups.

Some people use the Reiser file system for a long time with no problems. I hate it and won't use it again because of all the problems that I had with it.

I tried all the tools it suggested and a lot more. It always gave me unrecoverable. I think I'll try foremost. If you have a better suggestion, please post.
