Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Refresh rate for applications is not good on Red Hat 9 box

Red Hat 9 - 2.4.20-8 Kernel
ViewSonic VE170B ViewPanel 18 " Flat Screen monitor
S3 Trio64 Video card

From the /etc/X11/XF86config file I see that my monitor shows up as unknown. I noticed this during my install, but it works fine for viewing.

The problem being when I get on Netscape or pull any application up that I need to scroll to the bottom of it does not wrap properly. I have to click Reload and it will then take me to the part in the application I scrolled to.

Is my problem due to incorrect hardware settings? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Everett
