reducing hardware acceleration in Mandrake Linux 9.1??.

When I was using Windows, there were certain red dotted lines on my screen. I later learnt that my graphics card was spoiled. After googling my query, it learnt that reducing the hardware acceration removed the problem. I was able to do this my right clicking on the desktop>>selecting display properties>> then going to the settings tab >>> in that clicking on advanced >> then onto the troubleshooter tab, where I reduced the hardware acceleration.

After I have shifted to Mandrake Linux 9.1, the red dotted lines again appeared on the screen, but this time I don't know how to reduce the hardware acceleration. I googled my query but in vain. I can't afford to buy a new graphis card, and I am a Linux newbie, so I would be greatful for a suggestion.

Specs: Mandrake Linux 9.1
Intel pentium 4 CPU
1.6 GHZ
192 MB Ram
