Reducing CPU load of Wifi driver (mt76x2u)

I have these USB sticks on embedded PCs and the driver seems to be using about 20% CPU, even if there is very little data transfer. Unfortunately I'm in lack of CPU cycles ...
Before I had other USB sticks, which used basically no CPU at all, but they only supported 2.4 GHz.

Now I tried these sticks (Fritz!WLAN AC 860) which use the mt76x2u driver.
Is there any way I could lower the CPU usage?
There are five processes which use CPU:
1x "mt76-tx phy1" which uses the majority of the CPU and
4x "kworker/u2:[1234]-mt76"

I'd imagine that using less secure encryption would reduce CPU usage. Unfortunately I'm serious.

What kernel are you running ?. Are these cards not supported by the in-kernel code ?.

5.10.168-ti-r72 #1buster SMP PREEMPT Sat Sep 30 03:33:54 UTC 2023 armv7l GNU/Linux

It's a beaglebone green.
There is currently no newer version than 5.10.168 out of the box available.
Yes, the module seems to be in the kernel.
