RedHat9 does not detect my Broadcom NIC


how can i starting surfing without internet connection.
i have install RedHat9 in my pc, but there is no NIC present according to network device control manager.can anyone help..

Its not detecting you NIC. Re-seat that properly, if it still doesn't work then change the slot and let us know.

It looks like none of your hardware is really supported, so I am guessing this is a fairly new system. You may want to look into a newer distro like Fedora Core 5 or one of the Debian based systems like Mepis or Ubuntu. They will probably detect most of your hardware without a problem.

RedHat 9 is about 3 years old, it won't be able to detect hardware that was introduced after it was relaeased.

the nic is build in broadcom gigabit nic and i try to follow steps in hoolehan-com and get following errors when run make clean:

Makefile:18: *** Linux kernel source tree not found. Stop

lol I straight forward went to the Ethernet controller line. Sometimes how easily things are skipped.
Thanks elliott678, you saved our time.

tqa you must try some new distro as elliott678 adviced. B'coz running with older one will keep on giving problems at most of the stages, be it installing a new hardware or installing a package.

thanx alot..i've been working on fc5 before, but this time i need to use Redhat9..but nvr mind, there is 2 nic in our pc, so we decide to use the other nic..i've tried to install broadcom driver before, but it also did not working well..so there is no other option.we have to use the other nic.anyway thanx alot for ya reply..
