Redhat wont boot after firewire card installed?

I recently installed a firewire card. The brand is soyo (model: sw-1394). When redhat 8.0 boots up everything goes fine until it checks for new hardware. I thought it might take a while for it to configure but the computer just froze. I also noticed that the LED on the floppy drive was active. I would like to boot into redhat so how can I fix this problem. Anybody with ideas please reply to the thread. Thanks :Pengy:

Remove the firewire card and you should be able to boot. Then you can check the logs to see what is happening. Sounds like the card is bad or not supported. I have an on-board firewire controller in one machine and a SIIG 3-port firewire PCI card in another and RH 8 is happy with both.

Also, www.linux1394.org is a good source of information. They have lists of known compatibles and some good how-tos.
