Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question Redhat on a HP DL320 G2

Having some issues getting Redhat to RUN on the DL320 G2 server. I installed it using different methods, all with the same results, it hangs at GRUB. It has two 130G ATA harddrives in a RAID0 configuration. Tried to setup both default, and software raid on the drives and still no go. Disabled Hyperthreading, and there was another Bios setting regarding maps that was set to auto that I tried changing. It is also configured to boot linux.

This is Redhat 9, and before I get a bunch of useless replies saying get the latest, I cant, since we have some programs that were built to run on certain versions of MySQL, Perl, etc that will break, and work together with a couple other servers already in production, so trying to get the program to work with newer versions will be too big a job and could lose us a ton of revenue. If it aint broke dont fix it. If I have no other choice than to run a different version of Redhat, then I would need to know how to install just the basics, and have to install the versions of MySQL, Perl, Expect, Apache, and whatever else is needed manually and hope they all work peacefully together on the newer version of OS, but I would rather not have to go through all that.

If someone has had success installing RH9 on a DL320G2, please let me know how you did it, or if it cant be done, I would like to know that as well, we would have to find a different server then. IIRC I was able to install it on a G4.

UPDATE: I think I found the problem. The installer program defaults put the root on the second drive, and when GRUB lodas, since it cant see the second drive due to the hardware RAID, it hangs. I removed the secondary drive and reinstalled the miminal server setup and got it to boot. Trying it now as another minimal install using the two drives and putting root on the first drive to see if that resolves it.
