Redhat 9 disabling USB in BIOS

I am dual booting with Redhat 9 & XP on a Gigabyte GA-7VAX motherboard with latest firmware.

My problem is when I shutdown Redhat, my USB controller is disabled in my BIOS. This is evident at the next bootup, when my mouse and keyboard do not work! To make matters worse I cant even hit Del key to re-enable the USB controller! Ugh. I have to unplug the P/S and wait a minute for it to reset itself. (Strange because its a new MB with good battery, but doing this works)

Any ideas why Redhat might be changing my BIOS settings? Improper shutdown maybe?

Thanks!

I found that by enabling the usb keyboard/mouse in the bios it worked properly. Strange how with these disabled the keyboard and mouse worked fine until reboot.
