Redhat 9.0 cd rom problems
I can mount and read cd's no problem (automount doesn't work, oh well). When I try to unmount I get a message telling me that the cd's busy and can't be unmounted so I'm stuck with that cd untill I reboot. Also I can't use the eject button is that normal. Help

Close all terminals/browsers/windows looking at /mnt/cdrom or any subdirectory.
As long as something is using that directory, you can't unmount the device.

Normally you CAN'T use the Eject button until you umount. Are you logged in as root, or in terminal mode and su to root?

i was logged in as root. And I Realized that It was only happening with one cd, the install cd for ut 2003. So i just manually ejected the disk them unmounted it. Works fine with every other disk i use. Also I think the auto mount doesn't work because i was logged in as root. Thank you for your help. Just trying to learn.

RH install CD faulty?
Is this a CD you burned after downloading from the net? I have had trouble with one or two of those myself. If that's the only CD you're having a problem with, either download again or, if you bought the package, ask RH if you can return that one for a replacement.
