Redhat 8.0 not recognizing Actiontet Modem

Hello, I recently installed Redhat 8.0 on my Dell inspiron 4000 and I wish to connect to the internet. Of course, at this point, I don't expect linux to be very compatible with my winmodem that I use in my windows partition, but I have an external actiontec 56K external modem connected to the laptop.

Windows recognized it, and I installed all the software for it, but the hardware browser for redhat refuses to recognize the modem. What should I do now?

Thanks in advance,
roger

use these tools:

kppp
redhat-config-network

or this om CLI:

wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

using wvdial, you need to edit /etc/wvdial.conf and provide the entries for your ISP - and remove the ';'
