RedHat 7.x on IBM eServer


Hi there!

Is it possible to install redhat 7.2 or 7.3 on IBM eServer x206 or would i get into a lot of troubles..... ?

Anyone have any experience or thoughts about this ?

Welcome to LQ. I would expect that Yes, you could install it, but it's diffcult to predict if there would be "troubles". What concerns do you have about the installation, and what other peripheral equipment would be used here? Also, what kind of work would this machine be used for? The more detail you can provide, the better advice people can offer. -- J.W.

Thanks for your answer!

The background is that the machine will be used as application server with 2 SCSI disks in HW raid. Also Intel/Dialogic telephony hardware ("old" PCI boards, 5V) will be installed. For this only RedHat 7.3 (kernel-2.4.18-5) is supported.

My guess is that if I manage to squeeze in RH 7.3 it will work....
