Angry Red Hat 9 on a Dell Inspiron 500M

ok here it goes: I just got a Brand Spanking New Dell Inspiron 500m. I went to load red hat 9 it loaded just fine but NO wireless controller was installed when I have one. and My video does work properly(I think spelling is correct:-)) here what the wireless card is Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 LAN 3A miniPCI I find a driver and my video is Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller I can find a driver for this but it does work and red hat resets X to the 852 driver and then I can't get the resolution on to change on the laptop display. I do belive it changes on the monitor out. the laptop display is 1400x1050. any help that you can give me would me great.

Hi rgenthner,

You might want to try looking here:

There are several examples of laptop installs here. One of them surely has a similar case to yours.

Hello rgenthner;

I have a similar problem, but with mandrake 9.1! The problem comes from a bug in the BIOS (have to be fixed by Dell ...).

Please refer to the following url: http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportf...&message.id=97

Actually broadcom does have drivers for linux, if you head here and read through the drivers list you can find it.

I know the link is for a Dell 1100 but I figure if it's the same type of networking card in the 500m like the 1100 this might help you.
