Done that... it's the same it goes to XP
My guess is that XP isn't alowing to change MBR to LILO if i had /boot partition first than XP partition it would work just fine but because my instalation of XP was the first that is not the case can't i work out of this with LILO?

Lilo reported some error when you did the "re-run" from the command line?

Yes, this is exactly the problem that I had. This is where my efforts with RH8.0 stopped. I don't have the experience to solve this problem. If anyone knows what to to do.... please help. Someone said that I should stop the service that monitors the files in the hard drive (I cannot remember its name), because he had the same crushes, but that didn't work for me.

I have now installed Mandrake 9.0, and it seems to work but with no sound yet. I didn't have the time to search more about it, but I think a very good link was given for this distribution above.

I know what you mean. For some strange reason, Mandrake seems to work on the 900 series of the presario notebooks. I also have Mandrake now, but with no sound, no internet etc. But I guess it's a start. If anyone has any ideas about RH8 please let us know.
