LinuxQuestions.org - Recover the partition table

i am having 40(@38.8) GB harddisk.
on that total 5 windows partitions

drivename size (in GB) operating system
c:(primary) 6 win98
d: 4 winxp
e: 10 data partition
f: 10 data partition
g: 5 data partition

d,e,f,g are the logical partitions in the extended partition.

In the remaining last 3 GB, i have installed Redhat 7.3 (swap & root partitions) with LILO bootloader.
All the things were working fine till one day i was scanning hdd with norton antivirus. Norton showed some error & repaired that.

after rebooting in win98, i was able to see only c:(primary partition).
All the drives in the extended partition was not there.
The system was not booting into winxp or linux as both were on one of the extended partitions.
Through FDISK utility, i was able to see only c: drive. the remaining space it was showing as unallocated space.

I thought there might be partition table corruption. so i tried demo version of partition table doctor. it is showing my all logical drives. but as it is demo version, it is not able to write back the newly builded partition table to HDD.

The system is still working fine with win98 and only c: drive.

So please guide me what must be the exact problem?
If i bought the full version of Partition Table Doctor, will it really recover my data on the lost partitions?
otherwise tell me some other way of recovering from this problem?
