Record ALSA Playback Audio

Hello,

On my computer with an AMD SBx00 Azalia, Realtek ALC888GR, Intel HDA (A7GM-S 2.0 Mainboard) I need to record video & audio of applications and games.

I need to be able to record audio using ALSA, without Pulseaudio. How do I do this?

Notes:

1. Currently this is only possible using Pulseaudio, by enabling the green checkmark of "Monitor of Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" (pavucontrol screenshot) and then using ffmpeg to record video and audio (I use this script).

2. I need this for using GLC to record video + audio, to enhance performance (ffmpeg has much higher performance drop than glc).

3. Links to ALSA wiki with information on creating a loopback device will unfortunately probably not suffice unless you can do some handholding. I found the ALSA documentation extremely unclear and have failed to enable audio recording in ALSA for years.

4. My alsa-info.sh information

From the command line, see if you have sox installed
"man -k sox" should give you a listing of all the related pages on your distro.
Sox will allow you to change the sample rate to DVD quality, add sound effects, pretty much everything you'd likely want to do at the recording quality level you yourself set. It even has a graphical front end, audacious.
Read it, tinker with it and post back if you have questions.

Sox seems indeed the way to go here, since it, according to the man-page, can capture the default audio-device.
