Lightbulb Recommend me a joypad please

Hi!!!

I need help with a piece of hardware here. I've been trying, no kidding, for years to set up a joypad/Stick under linux. I simply cannot do it and the documentation I've found in the net is far too poor. I've tried with and without Linux Joystick Drivers from:

http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~vojtech/joystick/

From source, rpm and even using apt-get for that driver. Nothing.. not even a little sign that my joypad works.
Sometimes I believe it's the sound card game port which is not good, sometimes the joypad I'm trying... I've tried with those:

Sidewinder Force Feed Back Pro, Saitek 6 series, Saitek P750, PSX USB Bridge and many others...

My question is... Is there any joypad natively made for Linux? Something plug and play which will allow me use my favorite emulators such as Xmame or Snes9x? If there's not... what would you recomend me? A friendly sound card? Any gameport I should buy? Any joypad which is automatically identified for Linux? (Sidewinder, anything...).

I'm just so exhausted of trying to make this to work... that I don't wanna try anymore. I wanna change the hardware and stop this struggle of mine with Linux

Any help would be great.
Thanks
