Recommend a PCI Wireless N card please
 

Hi!

For as long as I've used Linux I've had trouble getting my wireless connection to work properly. I've tried about 4 different cards and now I'm using D-Link DWL G510 which even says Linux supported on the box. It installed right out of the box and when I have a connection it is fast enough; not as fast as the other computers, laptops, tablets or phones but reasonably fast. The connection is however unstable and I often have no connection at all. It very strange actually because as time goes it seems to get more unstable, both since boot-up and since fresh install.

I'm tired of this and since we got a new router which support wireless N I can just as well get a new card. Can you recommend any? It needs to be able to handle WPA-encryption.

Many similar threads recommends this site: http://linux-wless.passys.nl/, but I find it quite inefficient since you can't filter on wireless type and you can't be sure that it works with WPA.

This one from the LinuxQuestions.org HCL is one recommendation:

You can navigate to the Linux HCL and use the Search function with the term
"wireless n" without quotes. That should give you plenty of hits to start.

If you find a card like the one above, where the poster stated the chipset
(but not the actual manufacturer, model, and version) you might need to
ask them for more information.

I didn't know that this side had a HCL. Thanks! Unfortunately though I've already ordered a D-Link DWA 140 which is rumoured to be compatible with Linux. In case someone else finds this thread the installation guides can be found at: D-Link homepage, this blog(GreWeb) and this blog(Multivercity)

I'll keep you updated on my progress. Altough I think I'm going to settle with this USB device that HCL-link solves the thread. THREAD SOLVED
