reboot hanging
I use Ubuntu 5.04
Pentium II Compaq Problem: I choose to reboot, it closes all stuff and the last line I see on my screen is "Rebooting..." then it turns off monitor and hangs. (keyboard is also off) |
hi there
does it go well with shutdown?? |
almost, power light starts to blinking but computer is off
BTW no problems when I restart or shut down on Windows |
i just saw somewhere
that the problem might be due to some USB devices do u have some?? try rebooting after removing them regards |
no, I don't have any usb devices
|
if the power led is blinking and you restart the machine (by tapping the power button) does the desktop load faster than normal?
|
No, it loads like normal. I think you meant that computer is in hybernate, then no. Led is just blinking, computer is completely off.

have you checked the bios settings for apm/apci ?it still sounds as if it's entering a stand-by state.if this is the case,it will appear to be off (no fans, drive access...etc.) but the ram will still have power to avoid data loss.
|
apm/apci?
I passed an option to boot with noapci but it didn't work, Maybe it is really stand-by but it's strange, keyboard is off. (How to get back?) How do I make sure its on stand-by? BTW BIOS should be ok, because in Windows i have no problems. |
I updated my kernel to 2.6.10-5-386 and my shut down problem is gone but reboot problem remains.
|
My system does that too.
It shuts down perfectly, but flips off the monitor and keyboard on a reboot. Its a Toshiba A70-RX1 notebook. |
